While I consider myself apt enough to provide decent, kind feedback, I'm not the sort of person to laud a man's writings. Instead, I seek to find smaller, more intricate points of interest within their writings so that I might offer suggestions and feedback so that they might better aid the flow of their work. |
I'm a casual reader. Did I enjoy the reading experience? Would I read more? I will highlight what I did and/or didn't enjoy. I do not edit grammar or spelling, but I might comment on it. |
I tend to be constructive, though I've been known to be a bit too nice...at least, in my opinion. note that while I'll review anything requested, they can be a bit sloppy if I don't take interest. |
I will give the kind of review that I wish people gave me: rather detailed with emphasis on areas that need growth and areas that are pretty good already. And I'll review pretty much anything, whether a poem or an entire novel or anything in between. Admittedly, though, I do tend to be absent-minded, so it does happen that you might have to resend me the review request, but I promise I'll get around to it eventually. |
I try to go as in-depth as I possibly can in my reviews, and I am forever tweaking my style. |
I don't know what my style is, but I point out what sticks out at me. |
I look for how well the story or poem flows and if there are things out of place. I also check for grammar and spelling errors. |
I give a honest review, I look for improvements maintaining a good rhythm through the narrative. I value clarity in a storyline. I notice when pacing is off balance from one point in the story then the other. I like to focus on Grammer and punctuation as well. I like to give the author a good "WOW" from my review. |
I like a review that makes me edit, even if it bothers me or offends me. So I look at your piece with, "What would I change to make this better and why?" And I write down most of what I think... the limit being how much you paid, more than how much you can handle! And of course there's no guarantee that my advice won't make it worse. Well, except the long list of bestseller credits-- oh, I haven't published them yet. But feel free to request a refund if I really like your piece. It's happened, sometimes I'm in too good of a mood and I think your work is perfect. If it was, you'd be submitting it for a royalty advance... praise is nice but it's like Chinese food, you need more in an hour. Whereas critique sticks to your ribs... |
Not sure I have a style....I learn as much from you as you from me. I will point our typos, grammatical things if I see them. I love poetry and when it comes to stories, please nothing "dark"....not my thing. |
Generally long winded... I tend to hone in on aspects of a story that I feel the author underdeveloped and then encourage them to enhance them. My style is a bit chaotic, as I jump from element to element depending on how large they loom in my mind. I may one day employ a template,to cover plot, theme, characters, settings, etc.. but for now I just comment on the parts of the story I feel compelled to address. Because my own spelling and grammar is atrocious, I leave those suggestions to your spellcheck and the more technical reviewers kind enough to visit your work. |
I try to find the WOW-factor in your writing. No in-depth analysis, just my thoughts. #19 PR June 2016. #29 PR July 2016. #10 PR August 2016. Newbies Academy Reviewing Classroom, Winner June 2016. I like to always pick out the positive points in a piece, even if overall I am not enamoured by it.
I tend to point out grammatical and spelling errors.
I will be honest, but not unkind ![]() |
When I review something, I look for grammar and it's content. I can say what you miss or what you need. |
Mostly just bitchin'. If it's great writing I switch over to nit-picking but usually I'll find something to like. Please don't ask me to review poetry unless you're either James Fenton, Seamus Heaney or thick skinned as an elephant... I absolutely hate bad poetry. I'm the terror of the dactyls, I swat them with my hat. I'll have no truck with trochees, coz life's too short for that. Seriously I'm not qualified. I mean a metre is made up of feet? Like what? |
Direct and honest. Will try to be respectful. |
I like to emphasize the positive attributes of your work, but I will offer suggestions for improvement if I'm able. |
Casual, friendly. I'll point out typos when I see them and make suggestions about quality, characters and logic, besides telling you how I feel about the piece. |
Is honest, encouraging, motivating and helpful with revisions. |
